Is Santana Done?

Let's beat the dead horse:

Ervin Santana's split statistics:

Home: 8 gs 4-2 52.2 ip 6 hr 3.42era .256baa
Away: 11gs 1-9 57.1 ip 17hr 8.79era .341baa

His next start is scheduled for Sunday at Minnesota and I think it's time for Joe Saunders to step in. If his next start were in Anaheim, I'd give him one more chance, but it's not, so it's time for Saunders.

Saunders is not pitching well in AAA (3-5, 6.03era) but he's pitched well in the bigs this year (3-0, 2.97 era). He last pitched Sunday, so he would get an extra two days rest before starting in Minnesota.

I think that Santana's problems are mental. So the best thing for him would be to work through it in AAA. I know that would be a further blow to his makeup, but the bullpen is not the place for him to work on things.

Maybe he can get some confidence back and help the Halos out again. He is only 24, and could be a key part of the pitching staff for years to come.
