The Angels called up right handed relief pitcher Marc Gwyn yesterday from AAA Salt Lake to replace Bartolo Colon on the roster.
The 29-year old Gwyn appeared in 37 games for the Bees this season with a record of 1-0 with 13 saves. He struck out 46 batters in 45.1 innings and had an era of 2.78.
The Angels acquired Gwyn prior to the 2006 season from the Oakland A's for cash.
Gwyn was originally drafted by Oakland in the 7th round of the 2000 amateur draft. Prior to that, he pitched three years at Rice University.
Gwyn also appeared in 8 games for the Angels during Spring Training this year compiling a 0-1 record and an era of 4.38.
Gwyn is not expected to stay with the Angels very long, but will provide relief innings if necessary.
