Juan Rivera doubled home two Bees with two outs in the top of the 9th to give Salt Lake a 9-8 victory. With first base open, the Colorado Springs pitcher intentionally walked Kendry Morales (31-for-69, .449 avg in August) to get to Rivera.
Rivera had a rough day until the 9th inning. He grounded out to shortstop leading off the 2nd and 4th innings. In the 6th inning, he flew out to center field.
In the 7th inning the Bees had scored 4 runs to cut the deficit to one before Rivera came to bat. With runners on first and third, Rivera grounded into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play.
In six games with Salt Lake, Rivera has 6 hits in 23 at-bats (.263). Two of the six hits have been doubles with the other four being singles. He also has two walks and four rbis.
- Third Baseman Matt Brown had 3 hits for the Bees.
- 23-year old relief pitcher Rich Thompson got the win in relief. He pitched two innings allowing two hits and striking out five. He is now 3-0 with a 2.01 era.
