Garret Anderson set an Angels team record by hitting in 10 runs in tonight's 18-9 victory over the Yankees.
Anderson doubled in two in the first inning, doubled in one in the second, hit a 3-run home run in the third and topped it off with a grand slam in the sixth. G.A. came up with two on and two outs in the bottom of the eighth, but grounded out to shortstop.
The ten runs batted in was one short of the American League record held by Tony Lazzeri who had 11 for the Yankees in 1936. The previous Angels record was 9 by Vladimir Guerrero on June 2, 2004 against the Boston Red Sox.
There have only been 12 players in major league history to have 10 or more rbi in a single game. The last time it happened was also during a Yankees vs Angels game. Alex Rodriguez had 10 rbi on April 26, 2005 at Yankee Stadium.
